These may be of use in job searches for journalists/writers/editors and related media jobs. Several sites, such as mediabistro.com and enhancemywriting.com offer advice, tips and contacts for writing for other venues. Think beyond your comfort zone on every level — there’s a world of writing and editing possibilities if you want to continue in this field.
Media Bistro
www.mediabistro.com
This site is dedicated to anyone who creates or works with content, regardless of medium. Because it caters to folks in many different genres of media, it may be a good site for you if you want to slide from, for example, writing feature stories into writing for documentary films. This has been one of our favorites for several years. It was formerly known as ‘Hire Minds’.
Editor and Publisher
www.editorandpublisher.com
This site, based on the monthly magazine, takes a look at the newspaper industry overall. You can see the discussions about the digital shift, and print’s response. Career postings are listed on the site; U.S.- and Canada-focused.
Poynter’s Pages
www.poynter.org
There’s a wealth of info on the pages from the institute dedicated to journalism. Jim Romanesco’s blog, along with a number of reference sites and links, make it a no-brainer resource for all working journalists. There’s a job board listed.
