Subject: DEP Press Secretary – job opening.
Fellow Chiefs of Staff:
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has an opening for a Press Secretary. (Our Press Secretary is headed to the new Governor’s Office of Energy and Climate Change as the Communications Director.)
The closing date to apply is Friday.
The Press Secretary at DEP is the lead spokesperson for the agency, supervises a small team, and reports to the Communications Director, which reports to the Chief of Staff. The Press Secretary is in regular contact with the Chief of Staff’s Office. The press office is on the same floor with the Leadership Team and the Secretary. The Press Secretary also sits in on all meetings of the Secretary’s Executive Leadership Team. Given our issues and our pace – and that DEP is one of the largest agencies in state government in terms of regulatory programs, employees, compliance/enforcement, state lands management duties, and a suite of public-private partnerships helping industry and citizens “go green” – this is a critical position with enormous opportunities for the right person.
To apply in People First, the Req # is 37001490-51192762-20080731101305. I am also attaching a chart that shows how our press office is organized by agency program area.
Thank you for your assistance. Please feel free to forward this note,
or refer anyone to us.
